This step involves generating the certificate to be used as the new CMK and then generating the new encrypted values for each CEK.1.

Create a new certificate in the key store, generally in the same location as the one currently used as the CMK. As seen earlier, this can be done in PowerShell.

In PowerShell, the files received from the DBA can be imported into CMK and CEK settings objects. Then a PowerShell command can generate new encrypted values for each CEK using the new CMK.
